Ethan + Macey | The Big House – Ruston Wedding

I can’t wait to share with you one of the most magical weddings I’ve had the pleasure of capturing — Macey and Ethan’s big day at The Big House in Ruston, LA. Despite the rain, the entire day was nothing short of breathtaking, and I can’t help but smile every time I think about all of the little moments that made it so wonderful.

At Macey’s Bridal session on Thursday, the Wind was CRAZY. Macey talked about the session and the wedding with such passion and excitement and never let the impending rain change her energy. When I arrived at The Big House, the sun was shining behind the clouds. Before we got to capture the first look, the rain came down. It was the kind of rain that creates a cozy atmosphere and makes everything feel a little more intimate. It didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits, though — in fact, it made everything even more special. Macey and Ethan planned for their ceremony to take place in the Carriage House, which was a perfect spot for a day like this.

The moment I stepped into the Carriage House, I was absolutely taken aback by how it was decorated. Wildflower arrangements lined the aisle chairs, creating the most dreamy, rustic-chic vibe. The soft lighting made the space feel warm, and even though the rain was tapping against the windows, it only added to the romantic ambiance. It was like stepping into a secret garden. The ceremony itself was full of smiles, happy tears, and those quiet moments where you could feel how much these two truly meant to each other. I loved the words that Macey’s brother, the officiant, spoke over the. Adding their siblings into the ceremony was so sweet.

Macey looked absolutely stunning in her gown. The delicate soft ivory, and the way she moved with grace — you could tell she was glowing from the inside out. Ethan, on the other hand, was the perfect picture of a proud groom, as he watched Macey walk toward him. Their vows were so heartfelt and real. I think everyone in the room could feel the love they shared, and as I snapped away, I couldn’t help but get choked up myself.

The ceremony was short but sweet, and after they exchanged rings, they shared a kiss that made the whole room cheer. It was the perfect beginning to a perfect day.

Once the ceremony was over, the rain was still coming down, but that didn’t stop anyone from celebrating. The reception was held under a grand tent, and even though it was a bit wet outside, the atmosphere inside was alive with energy. The live band played everything from classic hits to the latest dance tunes, and you could feel the joy radiating from every corner of the tent.

Guests didn’t hesitate to hit the dance floor, and it was such a blast to capture everyone letting loose and having the time of their lives. There’s something about a rainy day that makes people want to party even harder, and this crowd did not disappoint! The newlyweds shared their first dance and I could see in their eyes just how much they cherished the moment — just the two of them, surrounded by their closest family and friends.

One of the things I love about photographing weddings is how much thought and detail goes into everything. Even on a rainy day, Macey and Ethan made sure their wedding day was full of beauty and charm. From the beautiful flower arrangements to the personalized touches at the reception, there was no shortage of little moments to capture. The umbrellas, the cake that was almost too pretty to eat, and the warm, welcoming vibe of the entire venue all came together to create a day that felt truly magical.

As the night drew on and the rain continued to fall, the party raged on. Macey and Ethan danced with their friends and family, laughed until their sides hurt, and created memories that would last a lifetime. It was a perfect reminder that a wedding day doesn’t have to be flawless for it to be unforgettable. Sometimes, it’s the unexpected moments — the rain, the little missteps, the way people come together in the face of it all — that make the day so memorable.

Macey and Ethan’s wedding was a perfect mix of elegance, joy, and southern charm. The night ended with a second line exit. It was so fun to capture this moment as the two closed their perfect day. As a photographer, I’m so grateful to be able to capture those precious moments, the ones that tell a story of love, laughter, and everything in between.

Macey and Ethan, thank you for letting me be part of your day! I wish you both a lifetime of happiness, and I’m sure this is just the beginning of many more beautiful moments to come.

XOXO,

Brit
