There’s something so special about photographing a wedding where you already feel like part of the family, and that’s exactly how I felt capturing Kristina and Alex’s big day. Having photographed Kristina’s brother’s wedding, her sister’s newborn session, and now her wedding day, it’s safe to say this family has a piece of my heart (and a good chunk of my camera roll too!).
The day started at the stunning Oak Hall Bed & Breakfast in Vicksburg, a Southern dream of a venue. Kristina was surrounded by her closest friends and family, and the energy in that bridal suite was pure joy, laughter, happy tears, and a little bit of hairspray magic in the air.
One of my favorite parts of the morning was the first look with her dad on the grand staircase. Then we had the sweetest first look with Alex in the stained glass study it was straight out of a storybook.
Originally, the ceremony was planned to take place on family property, but as the Southern weather tends to do the rain had other ideas. So, everything moved inside to the foyer of Oak Hall, and let me tell you… it couldn’t have been more perfect.
Oak Hall added this romantic, cozy feel, and the warm glow from the chandeliers made everything so intimate and full of love. Kristina’s dad officiated the ceremony, which was such a touching personal touch, and his words, along with the heartfelt vows the couple shared, made this one of those moments I’ll remember for a long time.
After the “I do’s,” we all made our way to Rooftop 1311 in downtown Vicksburg for the reception and it was a party from the moment we arrived! The dance floor was never empty. Between the choreographed dances, the joyful scream-singing into the microphone moments, and everyone just having the best time, it was the perfect celebration of Kristina and Alex’s love.
One of my favorite sentimental details was the groom’s cake that the couple had Alex’s parents’ cake recreated in remembrance of them. It was such a beautiful way to honor their memory and keep them close during the day.
As the night came to a close, the couple made their grand bubble exit on the terrace surrounded by cheers, laughter, and that perfect golden glow of downtown lights. It was the most magical ending to an already incredible day.
For me, being able to photograph multiple milestones for one family is something I’ll never take for granted. It’s more than just taking photos it’s documenting a family’s story as it grows and evolves, and being invited back time and again is the greatest honor.
XOXO,
Brit
